Bottoms Up: Its A Snowy Friday and Time for Another Hot Rum Drink
Hot Buttered Rum To Go
Since it’s clear that winter is here to stay, and we’ll never be able to drink cold drinks again, I figured I may as well give you an instant drink mix to store for the next time you need a hot toddy — like maybe the next time the snow rises up over the tops of your snow boots. Say, this afternoon. You can make and store this mix in the refrigerator, then just plonk it into boiling water and give it a shot of the best rum you can lay hands on. We like Meyers. It has that wonderful molasses flavor with nary a carb. There. That feels better doesn’t it. And its so low carb. Yeah.
1 teaspoon top quality ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon top quality ground cloves
1 cup xylitol crystals
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground Cardamom
1/2 pound salted butter
Dark Rum
whipped cream garnish with cinnamon stick and drizzle of low carb chocolate syrup
Blend all ingredients except rum in a jar and store in the fridge. To make a drink add a shot of dark rum along with 2 tbsp. of mixture to a mug of very hot water. Top with plain whipped cream, a cinnamon stick and a drizzle of low carb chocolate syrup. Drink it down.
