Bottoms Up. It’s Friday. Time for a Whiskey Sour: The Silver Cloud Way

Whiskey Sour RecipeRecipe: One of the Oldest:  The Whiskey Sour

And perhaps one of the first cocktail recipes that made use of citrus in a big way.

You know, of course, that cocktails were invented in the United States and probably began in New Orleans where they had plenty of rum, whiskey, sugar and citrus, from an early age.

Now we love the bright, bracing flavor of all manner of “sours”, and with all natural stevia, we can easily trade out the sugar with no loss of flavor.

Use this drink to calm yourself after the election, before the Marathon which runs this Sunday in New York (we’ll be there), and any other time you just need a quick relaxing hit.

The Whiskey Sour

2 ounces rye or bourbon whiskey

½ ounce (about the juice of ½) fresh lemon juice + grated zest of ½ lemon

¼ packet all natural stevia

Ice cubes

1 orange slice

1 maraschino cherry

Combine whiskey with juice, zest, and stevia in a mixing glass.  Add ice cubes and stir vigorously.  Transfer to a high ball glass. Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.  Sit down.  Put your feet up.  Take a deep drink.  Close your eyes.  Seeee…  Don’t you feel better?
