Beat the Heat this Summer with these Delicious Cooling Foods

Cooling Foods
There’s nothing better than cooling yourself down on a hot, summer day. The feeling of coolness that washes over you is so invigorating, no matter how you go about doing this. However, many people’s idea of cooling down is a jump in the pool or standing in front of a fan or AC with your arm’s outstretched. What you may not realize is you can also stay comfortable on a hot summer day with delicious, cooling foods. While water is helpful, it doesn’t cut it when you’re hungry (or hangry!), so reach for foods that will keep you full and cool instead.

Looking for a way to flush toxins and clear the heat from your body this summer? If you want to beat the heat this summer, give these delicious cooling foods a shot!

Watermelon– A summertime tradition, no hot, summer day is complete without fresh watermelon. Because watermelon is comprised mostly of water, yet contains many vital nutrients, it can help you stay hydrated, satiated, and cool at the same time.

Avocados– Many may be surprised to see that this fruit as a cooling food, but because avocados contain a high amount of monosaturated fatty acids they help remove toxins and heat from the blood. Luckily, avocados are easily digested, so your body will not create more heat during digestion.

Pineapple-Another fruit with a high water content, pineapple is delicious and refreshing on a hot day. You can prepare and ingest pineapple in many ways, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t cool yourself down with pineapple. In fact, pineapple is typically recommended to treat heat stroke.

Spicy Peppers– Have you ever wondered why people who live in extremely hot climates often eat a lot of spicy foods? While it may sound counter-intuitive, eating spicy peppers will make you sweat, which will then cause your body to trigger mechanisms to help cool the body down.

Leafy Greens– If you needed another reason to add more green, leafy vegetables to your diet this is it. Greens are fantastic for your body and are easy for your body to digest due to the high water content that’s contained in vegetables such as romaine lettuce, collard greens, spinach, and kale.
