coca cola dangers

An interesting article written by author Anahad O’Connor in the Well section of the New York Times on September 29th, connected scientific medical organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Cancer Society, American College of Cardiology, American Academy of Family Physicians and The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with receiving financial support from Coca-Cola. Corporations give out donations for philanthropic reasons all the time, so what is the big deal?

The big deal might be that obesity in children and adults are at an all time high, and a company, such as Coca-Cola, that profits off of selling sugary drinks might not be the best sponsor for these medical organizations. The donations came close to 120 million dollars, all together, given out to medical, health and community organizations since 2010. The irony here is just too much to handle.
