Medicinal Curcumin Fights Depression

Curcumin Health BenefitsSpices are foods favorite flavor enhancers, but according to research conducted at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, they may also be an alternative for establishing a positive mood. Even though medications do exist, many cause harmful side effects, including nausea, insomnia, and memory loss. However, researchers have discovered a more natural solution – curcumin.

Curcumin, the compound found in turmeric, is filled with antioxidants. Usually found in most curries, turmeric provides, color, depth, and loads of phenolic compounds. These compounds, which fight inflammation, free-radicals, and depression, have properties exclusive to turmeric. In the recent study, when individuals received 500 milligrams of curcumin twice-a-day for six weeks, they noticed effectiveness equal to their standard-of-care-drug. The other two groups received generic Prozac or a combination of the two. Furthermore, even though test subjects were taking curcumin, the study used a very pure form.

Known as BCM-95, this readily absorbable form of curcumin is seven times more potent than most commercial sources. Better yet, this micronized, patented form of curcumin sticks around in the body longer because it’s mixed with turmeric essential oils. Even though cooking with curcumin has its advantages, you would have to eat it multiple times a day to get anywhere near the recommended dose. That’s because only 2-5% of turmeric is actually curcumin.

Can’t find BCM-95 at your local vitamin outlet? No problem. The Salerno Center for Complementary Medicine is proud to offer clinically-tested BCM-95 Curcumin. Our curcumin, which delivers up to ten times the absorption strength of other leading, well-known brands, is rich in antioxidants and health fighting compounds, a fact your mood will find comforting.
