Recipe: Negroni Cocktail

Negroni Cocktail RecipeSometimes known as the Italian martini,  this cocktail was first made famous in Tennessee Williams 1951 play, “The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone”. Later, at the Gritti Palace, negronis were knocked back by  Earnest Hemingway while writing “Over the River and Through The Trees”. Now,  praise be, we can reinstitute this serious cocktail for low carbers, or for play goers following the work of Ed Stevens, whose new work, “Viewer Discretion Advised” opened to raves in NY’s off broadway scene. It’s a play with no fat, and a lot of fury.  Just like the drink. Knock one back.  Aah.

1 oz gin
1 oz sweet vermouth
1 oz Campari® bitters
1 oz seltzer
orange slice garnish

Stir with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass garnished with an orange slice.  Also good on the rocks.
