With summer officially over and school back in session, many of us could use some time to calm their mind and rest their body. While life can often get in the way, there’s always time for a relaxing bath. Having a good soak is an easy and effective way to get in some much needed down time so you can recharge your batteries. However, don’t go and pull out that generic bubble bath, which can irritate your skin. Instead, use simple and natural ingredients instead, and don’t be afraid to dim the lights and light some candles!
While it’s true that what we eat matters, self-care goes beyond your diet. Taking time for yourself to rest and relax is also necessary, and there’s no better way to do that than with a simple bath. Activated Charcoal Bath
1. Mix together 1 cup of activated charcoal, 1 cup of ground oatmeal, and ½ Himalayan pink salt.
2. Fill your bath up with warm water.
3. Pour mixture into the bathwater and stir until dissolved.
4. Mix in 6-10 drops of lavender and tea tree essential oil.
5. Soak for 20-40 minutes to help boost circulation and draw out toxins.
Baking Soda Bath
1. Fill bathtub up with warm water.
2. Add one to two cups of baking soda to the bath and mix until it’s dissolved.
3. Soak for 10 to 40 minutes to help soothe irritating skin conditions, improve circulation, and relieve muscle pain and tension.
Green Tea Bath
1. Fill your bath up with warm water.
2. While bath is filling up, add five to ten organic green tea bags into the bathtub.
3. Once your bathtub is full, hop in for 20-30 minutes to help take advantage of green tea’s anti-aging benefits.
Lavender Epsom Salt Bath
1. Fill up your bathtub with warm water.
2. Add 10-20 drops of lavender essential oil, ½ cup of baking soda, and one cup of Epsom salt into the bath and stir until dissolved.
3. Soak for 20 to 40 minutes to help soothe your mind, body, and soul.
Detox Ginger Bath
1. Fill bathtub up with warm water.
2. Add ½ cup of freshly grated ginger or 1 tsp of ginger powder and stir until dissolved.
3. Soak for 10-20 minutes to help rid your body of toxins.
4. Ginger baths WILL make you sweat, even after the bath. So wear sweat clothes or a bathrobe afterward.
Apple Cider Vinegar Bath
1. Fill your bathtub up with warm water.
2. Add two cups of apple cider vinegar (with the mother) into the bath and stir.
3. Soak in the tub for 15-30 minutes to help restore your skin’s pH balance and aid in healing health issues.
4. Shower after the soak, with or without soap.
Milk and Honey Bath
1. Fill your tub up with warm water.
2. Add ½ cup of pure honey and 1-2 cups of full-fat milk, or ½ cup of powdered milk under the running water. Stir until dissolved.
3. Soak for 20-40 minutes to help exfoliate and moisturize your skin.
